CUSTODIAN RECONCILIATION TEMPLATE

Custodian reconciliation template that writes the break report for you

Month-end. The custodian file and your fund accounting don't agree.
You know the drill: build a key, VLOOKUP, map the columns, squint at rounding, repeat next month.

That is a set of rules, not a job. These packs write the rules down once, with a small Python script that runs them and an Excel break report at the end. £49 a pack.

Why position and cash reconciliation keeps eating the week

  • Every reconciliation gets rebuilt from scratch, in a new spreadsheet, by whoever is free.
  • Tolerances live in someone's head. When they are on holiday, so are the tolerances.
  • Timing differences and sign flips (DR/CR) show up as breaks, and hide the real ones.
  • Audit asks how you reconciled. The honest answer is "carefully".

A written rule set fixes all four. Same key, same tolerances, same break categories, every month.

Two reconciliation templates: positions and cash, and migrations

Custodian vs Fund Accounting

Your custodian and your books disagree. Which positions, which cash, and why?

  • Positions: composite key on as-of date, account and security id
  • Cash and transactions: transaction code mapping, DR/CR sign handling, fallback key, value-date timing window
  • Column maps for typical custodian and fund accounting exports
  • Tolerances for quantity, price, FX and rounding
  • Break categories: missing either side, duplicate key, quantity, price, FX, valuation, currency, amount, sign, timing
  • Python starter, Excel guide, synthetic example files with every break type seeded

£49+ VAT where applicable

Old vs New System After Migration

Data migration reconciliation template

The new system is live. Can you prove the data is the same, record by record?

  • Key rules with a legacy-to-new id crosswalk
  • Field mapping template: column, type, normalisation, compare mode, tolerance
  • Normalisation for nulls, dates, booleans, decimals and code lists
  • Expected differences recorded with a reason, so waivers stay visible
  • Break report with a sign-off block (rules version, file hashes, decision)
  • Python starter, Excel guide, synthetic example files. Works for BAU regression too

£49+ VAT where applicable

Both packs: £79 + VAT where applicable.

Custodian reconciliation template: questions

What is in a custodian reconciliation template?

Key rules for positions and cash, column maps for typical exports, tolerances for quantity, price, FX and rounding, break categories, a Python starter, an Excel guide and synthetic sample files.

What do I need to run it?

Python 3.10+ and pip install pandas pyyaml openpyxl. The script reads CSV, XLSX and JSON and writes an Excel break report.

Will it work with my custodian's export?

The column maps cover typical names. Every export is a bit different, so expect to rename a few columns in a CSV.

Can I use it for a data migration reconciliation?

Yes. The Old vs New System pack is built for that: legacy extract vs new system, record by record, with a sign-off block.

Is the sample data real?

No. Every sample file is synthetic and labelled as example data.

Does it decide which breaks are acceptable?

No. It tells you where they are and what kind they are. A person decides.

How much does it cost?

£49 per pack or £79 for both, + VAT where applicable.
